Salesforce MARKETING CLOUD
CONNECTIONS 2024
Connections is the biggest event for marketing, commerce, and data professionals. Thousands of attendees make their annual pilgrimage to Chicago to see and learn the latest products, and it’s hosted by us (Salesforce). This year, our challenges were to 1) sell tickets, 2) drive attendance to our events amid stiff competition from rival sides of the company boasting splashy celebrity appearances like Ali Wong, and 3) get people to leave believing AI was relevant to and beneficial for marketers. We did this by
1) Seeding buzz with bread-crumb dropping social tactics well before tickets went on sales (redacted videos, etc)
2) Surprising keynote attendees by having massive version of our beloved character, Brandy, DJ-ing with the AI character, Einstein, woven into the keynote. They teamed up to instantly personalize walk-on music tailored to each presenter based on their profiles. The result was Einstein 1 Radio, the best fake media brand you never heard of. We had Einstein 1 Radio swag, tracks, and more. It was so successful, people thought it was a real company. (Sorry, SirusXM)
3) This sexy sizzle👇
Dreamforce 2024
For the tech world — and perhaps the world in general — 2024 was the year AI took centerstage. At Salesforce, we took that literally, and my team and I armed presenters and execs at Salesforce’s biggest annual event, Dreamforce, with robots to support them as they walked an audience of 100K+, both in person and via livestream, through the company’s biggest advances in its AI offerings, known as Einstein and Agentforce.
Other cool things we did here included a “Lil’ Sebastian”-esque mini horse on the campground floor — I’m now Senior Creative Lead for the Marketing Cloud team, based in Indy, where Parks and Recs is alive and well in all our hearts, and some social stunts to drive Keynote buzz. The theme this year was “World Fair,” and we used this throughline to create a trippy world of near futurism for techies and normies alike.
